Meet your practitioner

Meet Natalija O’Connell

Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner

Natalija is a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner with experience in complex behavioural and psychosocial support needs, including work within the justice system and with psychosocial disability. This informs how she considers environment, experience, relationships and wider support systems.

She focuses on understanding what behaviour is communicating—not simply stopping it—and works without judgment alongside participants, families and support teams to build practical strategies for everyday life. She values collaboration that promotes independence, quality of life and meaningful participation across the participant’s everyday support settings.

Her experience includes complex presentations, restrictive-practice reduction and strategies that prioritise dignity, autonomy and human rights. She has a strong interest in neurodevelopmental disability and continues professional development in this area.

Why does this keep happening?

What is this behaviour communicating?

What should we actually do?

When you feel like you’ve tried everything

The next step isn’t always another strategy

You have changed routines, tried rewards, adjusted demands and sought school or professional advice.

Family life feels like walking on eggshells Behaviour changes after school Everyone is offering different advice You are unsure what to do next

This is not about blame. Behaviour has context, and effective support starts with understanding it.

Positive Behaviour Support in practice

How Positive Behaviour Support works

Assessment, context and collaboration shape individualised strategies that can be implemented, coached and reviewed in everyday settings.

1Understand
2Assess
3Plan
4Implement
5Coach
6Review

The process is individualised and may include gathering information across settings, identifying patterns and reviewing what is—and is not—working.

What makes Behaviour Bridge different

A Behaviour Support Plan only works if people can actually use it.

Positive Behaviour Support should work in real life—not just on paper. We focus on implementation with the people involved each day.
